Currently no migraines, no peeping Tom or light sensitivity. She has one French door with the 12 glass panels and has a blind over the window, then she bought a bamboo shade blind and installed inside the blind directly against window. Today I noticed she rigged another curtain rod with a blackout curtain on the same doorway. Similar situation in family room. She has a blind, then a curtain and then another blackout curtain on top. She never opens the windows or draws the blind and yes I would have to use a flashlight to get around on a sunny day. I think there is something going on mentally and I have brought it up to her that it was so dark in the house and try to open a blind or curtain and she looks very uneasy when I do.

She doesn't have cataracts or issues with her vision and it's super hot in her home, today it was 76 because she had the thermostat at 76.  She could care less about  the furniture.  Shes 74 and her only true ailment is slight arthritis in one knee. She has to take prescription Vitamin D (maybe because lack of sunlight) and always seems to dwell on sickness and sickness of others.   I believe she is depressed and I suggested speaking to an LPC and told her to ask her Dr. she does nothing about it.  I think I need to step in and maybe call the Dr office and express my concern?

Greenjay, any time I visited my parents I felt like I was stepping into a cave. I needed a miner helmet with a light. It all has to do with sensitivity to light as we age. More so if one had cataract surgery.

Even for myself at 70, my computer desk faces a window so I can see the neighborhood... I use to have the window curtains opened fully any time I was in the room. Now when the sun is out, and I am in my home office, I need to close the curtains part way as it now too bright for me.

Oh, I just remembered, my Mom also use to always closed the shades and blinds to keep the sun from fading the furniture and the rugs.
