How do I find a place close to family members so dad still has interaction but yet be in an assisted living facility where he can get proper care?

My father is in the early stage of dementia. He is still independent, Veteran that needs reminders for his medicine, to eat, for personal hygiene. My father does things to get under my skin ie he can't hear, yet ENT specialist says he can still hear 75%-80%. Makes me raise my voice to get him to acknowledge what I'm saying and still acts like he doesn't hear. He'll go for walks and pick up other peoples stuff. How do I find a place close to other family members so he still has interaction with them yet be in an assisted living facility where he can get proper care? I'm stuck between obligation to care for my dad and living my life with my husband. I'm a caregiver who's burnt out. I'm afraid if I tell him my thoughts about the assisted living he'll get mad and walk off.

This is a big decision. Can he afford an AL. The cost average in my area is $5000 depending on the person's needs. They will handle his Meds but can't force him to bathe. No facility can do this. He will have more interaction with people. Activities. Three meals a day.
