I have been a caregiver for a few yrs. now & I heard that you can get paid through the state for being a caregiver. I would like to know what do I need to do to get paid?
Flowers, the vast majority of family/friend caregiver do not get paid... unless the person they are caring for can pay you from their own savings account.
Now, one option is Medicaid. The person would need to apply and be accepted by Medicaid [which is different then Medicare]. If the person is accepted, it depends on your State if they have a program that will pay family/friend caregivers. If yes, please note the pay would be very minimal. Medicaid is funded by the taxpayers.
