I live in TN and am moving to FL. She lives in a nursing home and wants to move to FL so she can stay close cause we are only family. Can I move her to a facility in FL and will my POA work in FL or will I have to get another one in FL?How would I transfer her SSI and as and Medicare and all that? Will the facilities help me with all that?

The POA you've executed will "cross state lines". It happens all the time. One small thing to not have to worry about, at least!

Best wishes on the move.

Remember Medicaid stops at the state line. You will have to re-apply for her in Florida if she’s on Medicaid. An exempt house in TN won’t be exempt for FL Medicaid. Hope you are able to make it work. You will have to cont@ct facilities in FL as TN is not responsible.

Agree with Willie. Check new facilities, availability, and admission requirements, SS, insurance, doctor paperwork, etc. Share your POA with them to review.
Your DPOA should be accepted eleswhere unless you have a joint POA with a sibling and they object.

Enjoy FL.

Do you have a facility in Florida picked out? If you do I would ask to meet with the admin and/or social worker there and ask them whether they will accept your mother and if they can help with the transfer process.
