My Mom is on BIPAP and doesn't seem to be helping. Any suggestions?

She is 80 years old has COPD and drowsy all the time. Doc says to increase Minimum PS settings to 7 on the auto BIPAP machines. Mom cant take the force with which the air comes and starts suffocating. So have reduced the pressure setting to 2. Drowsiness is not improving with this setting any suggestions?

Yes - consult her doctor and explain the difficulty. If she can't tolerate the BiPAP at a level which is going to be effective, she'll need some other approach to respiration support; or it may be that something is going wrong with how it's set up for her; or it may be that she will need to adjust gradually to the machine so that she can relax and let it do its work.

But in any case - if ever you (you or anyone, I mean) have a problem with a doctor's directions or px, TELL the doctor. Don't just ask someone else for nicer advice! :)
