What to do with old trophies?

Mom and dad were both bowlers for years and have dozens of old trophies. The house must be sold this year and I am the one to have to clean it out for it's sale. So, other than hat racks, what can I do with all the trophies? I really don't want to discard them in the trash, but I have been told the recycle/Goodwill type shops don't want them and will not accept them. The name plate should come off very easy. Ideas?

My husband had 60+ years of sports trophies and we're cleaning out to sell. All of the metal ones we sold at a scrap metal place. Popped off all of the name plates, etc. I put all of name plates in a sports card book. The others we dropped at the local plastic recycling. Ended up keeping a couple of special ones.

Would a trophy shop (retail sale) be able to tell you what could be done with them?

Would you have enough other things to set them out for a garage sale?

How would you feel to set them out on the curb with a "free trophies to a good home" sign?

Hubs says to check what metals they are made of. You could take them to a recycling place that buys metal by the pound.

Call your local special Olympics organization. At one time they accepted such trophies and used them for awards.

I took photos of them. Then I believe I took them to Goodwill because I read somewhere that they could be reused. Whether they sold them or tossed them, I don't know.

Donate them to a local bowling alley? Any youth sports programs local to you that might recyle, repurpose them?
