My Dad was a WWII Army Vet. He passed away years ago but if I understand this correctly my Mom is eligible for some help in caring for her?

My mom is 87 and currently unable to care for herself. My husband, sister and I are able to keep her at home but we need help. I am currently helping her get through some health issues that started after she broke her femur. I heard about some VA benefits to help pay for this help as we are all on Social Security and cannot afford to pay the high prices. How can we get this information?

My mother gets VA Aid & Attendance benefits. It has make our lives bearable by allowing her to have a live-in caregiver who takes care of her 3 days a week while I work and is often here so I can run to the store or do errands.

Pat52dale, I hope you have checked into the VA Aid & Attendance benefit. It takes a long application process but if you keep at it, in the end there should be some help. There are also some volunteer organizations that supposedly assist with the application, but I have no personal experience with them. I might check it out myself, as my mom is getting close to 80k, but she still owns a home. Please let us know how it goes. Best Wishes.

If she has less than 80k in assets, you could apply for VA Aid and Attendance to help cover the cost of her home care or Assisted Living. Go up to the Money and Legal tab and click on Veterans Assistance.
