Skilled nursing debits account for LTC reimbursements. Do I have the right to get accounting from both entities after submitting our spreadsheet to them?

YOU DO have the right to ask for an accounting from both facilities. I do this all the time if I see a problem with any bill, and I always get results from contacting them. Just last month I had to call my husband’s hospital pension plan facility when I found out that they had deducted money for the entire last year and into four months of this year from his pension to pay for his Medicare Advantage premiums when in reality we paid for these premiums out of our pockets for the entire year. My husband had switched to a different Medicare Advantage program last year and apparently the pension plan was not notified by the prior Medicare Advantage carrier that he was no longer in the program so the pension plan continued to deduct the premiums. Two weeks later, they called me and told me that they will reimburse him the money that they deducted from his pension as they did look into the matter and they realized their mistake. A few days later, my husband was reimbursed. I always try to resolve these problems first with the company instead of hiring a lawyer to do it for me. If they were to give me a difficult time in resolving the problem, I would then resort to hiring a lawyer to go after them.

These facilities MUST provide that accounting. If they don’t give you that accounting then you should threaten them that you will have your attorney call them to rectify the situation and you will definitely get results immediately.

I agree with another post, do not show your spreadsheet first. Ask both for detailed accounting. If they delay. Tell them it is for taxes.

I have been having an issue with momma receiving her long term care benefits. She pays the assisted living facility first and then they turn in the paperwork to Nortwestern Mutual for her to be reimbursed. Well momma did not receive her benefit payment for March and the facility was going to subtract her payment for April which means momma would be short over $10000.00 from her trust checking account. I call the facility and they blame it on Northwestern Mutual - I call Northwestern Mutual and they say they have not received the paperwork. I believe Northwestern Mutual. I feel like the facility is not doing their job and lying about it. Momma finally got reimbursed but I have to stay on top of it.

Yes, you are entitled to get statements showing payments given and received.

Thank you for your responses. As a legal question, am I entiltled to ask both the skilled nursing facility and the LTC company for records of their actual accounting? That is what I would like to do, so I can compare it to what was taken out of, and reimbursed by LTC company. There is a definite discrepancy.

Bincase, you are absolutely entitled to the records.

I, personally, would get the records BEFORE I gave them your spreadsheet. You don't want any changes before you see them.
