She is in her 70s, lives independently alone and takes medication for depression. She is very sensitive and I am afraid of upsetting her by mentioning this, but conversations are becoming difficult for me.

Is this something new? Are they doing it cuz they can't think of anything else to say? Just an annoying habit? Try to not pay attention to it. Ya know what I mean??? LOL Sorry couldn't resist.

Patty347, it means she's a college football player.

Sorry to make light about this, but this like CountyMouse says "punctuation".

I had a cousin, when we talked, who would end each sentence with "that's that".

This isn't anything to worry about. Welcome to the forum :)

Be thankful if that's the only "problem" you have. And if it really bothers you so much then cut back on talking to her.

Why mention it at all? She talks like she talks, you talk like you talk.

Life goes on.

I don't want to seem mischievous, but one thing it could mean is that you are getting more irritable. Sometimes when you notice a small flaw in someone or something, every time you encounter it again it grates worse.

Is she saying this as punctuation in her speech? In a similar way to young people who say "like" all the time (which, like, drives me bananas)?
