Agree with JessieBelle. Keep it simple - gone to Heaven, or with the angels. The child probably won’t remember much @ 4. So sorry for you.

Many times children handle death better than adults do. I believe I would explain how someone has gone to be with the angels and then talk to the child if there are questions.

Dear Second123, what a difficult situation. Is your husband on hospice? If so, there is typically a spiritual counselor assigned that can assist you. Alternatively, if you belong to a house of worship, perhaps you can seek counsel from there.
If your husband is not yet on hospice, consider this need when you select a hospice provider. Each organization has different services and this will be important to you. If you are not at this stage yet, you might call the Spiritual Care office at your local hospital. Seek guidance from someone there, I think they would try to assist you. Please let us know how things are going.
