Sorry, kind of same question. My mom is looking more and more tired. My understanding is that it is because of CO2 build up. Going merely by visual clues the BIPAP is not helping. How afraid should I be of flare ups and what should I do given that she is immobile and taking her to the Emergency is not her preferred option right now?

Rather than go on visual clues, have you got a pulse oximeter? They're not expensive, I can't promise they're not uncomfortable (judging by how keen people seem to be to get them off their fingers - a bit like a clothes peg, I imagine), but they would allow you a clearer picture of your mother's condition. Even in these "interesting times" it shouldn't be difficult to get one online

Did you have any luck getting advice on what to do about the BiPAP?

They are telling us that before going to the ER we should all contact our doctors. You might want to consider doing that. It’s possible her BIPAP needs adjusting.

Does she use oxygen at home? Your profile lists some very serious medical issues for your mom. Maybe, her doctor can do an online emergency consult. Does she have an Advance Healthcare Directive? I'd discuss her wishes to see how to proceed. I'd discuss options with her doctor, to see where to go. Has she been on a ventilator before or indicated it might be an option?

As suggested, you need to talk to her doctor.
