I’m retired and I have Medicare. My mom has Medí-cal and plan to bring her to live with me, is that going to affect our insurances?

Would that affect me or her in any way with our insurances, she does not have an income. Please advise

Total Household income makes a difference in some forms of Medicaid.

I think I would call her caseworker and tell them she is moving. Your Medicare is not affected. Two different people, two different insurances. Does Mom not get Medicare, too?

Thank you for your help! And yes we live in California

Just to be clear…Do you both live in California? Is she in a NH or living on her own? Medi-Cal isn’t offered out of the state of California.

Medi-Cal is simply Californias form of Medicaid. She is very low income which is why she has it. As long as you aren’t paying her, there is no problem.
