What can I do when my mother thinks that there are other people in the apartment when it's just us?

Every once in a while my mother asks me about kids that don't exist or asks me about someone else. When I try to answer her she gets upset and thinks someone is trying to argue with her. I'm new to this and it has taken a toll on me. I've been taking care of my mother for 6yrs by myself, haven't had time for myself. I feel alone through this whole thing. What can I do?

Has your mother been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's? Get her to the doctor for a full physical and cognitive exam and tell the doctor about her delusions. Then get yourself to the doctor to talk about your stress and depression as you mentioned in your other post.

If you're at the end of your rope caring for your mother, and she has The funds get her placed in Memory Care Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing and apply for Medicaid to fund her stay there. If you get sick and die of stress, who will care for her then? These are the realities you must think about now, before a crisis occurs!

Good luck to you!
