We live in Oregon. Can my sister, who is power of attorney for mom and I be paid for caregiving?

We gave up our jobs. What should we know?

Your mom can have a caregiver contract drawn up & pay your sister directly. If your mom is on Medicaid then Oregon has 2 state programs that allow her to have a paid family caregiver but your sister as POA May be ineligible to be paid through those programs, most states if not all, exclude POAs and legal guardians from eligibility.

You both gave up your jobs before knowing what you need to do for income-- and that's if you can even get any at all?!

What do you both plan to do after your mother passes and you're both unemployed? How old is your mother? Depending on her issues and age, could she likely live another 10-20 years?

In the meantime, at least one of you should go back to work ASAP until you are certain of an income for caregiving.
