I have a question about getting paid for taking care of elderly parent and a sister with dementia. I have retired early to care for them.

How how do I go about getting paid? I have one aide that comes a few hours a week and she says I should be able to get paid for caring for them?

Chris, the vast majority of grown children who are helping their elderly parent do not get paid.... unless the parent pays you directly. If that is something your parent can do, then I recommend first you draw up an Employment Agreement.

Otherwise, if budgeting is an issue, contact your State Medicaid office to see if your parent can quality, and to see what programs are available in your State. Each State handles their own Medicaid programs.
