Guns and dementia: who has dealt with this?

I have not. But have read several tales of those who have.

Have you dealt with? How did you solve?

I worry about this.....my mum always has at least one gun on her at all times. Later on, I'm afraid someone will get shot. She is the "pry from my cold dead hands" kind of person....

Your Mom is in a NH, correct? Where do guns come in? Are they registered? Is there documentation that the person has been diagnoised with Dementia? Have you talked to your local police department? I would think they could confiscate them.

Like said, this has been discussed at length before.

Because my mom shot her pistol in her sleep, thinking it was just a dream, the DR told us to take all guns out of her house. We did. A few weeks afterward, She was diagnosed with vascular dementia & evidence of Levy Body dementia. She didn’t argue over the guns.
