Totally off topic - graduation gifts for family

Thanks for the suggestions and advice. I might scale back the amount a bit.

The idea for a gift card is a good one; young people these days probably don't carry dollar bills and change so the card would appeal to a younger generation.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I really had no idea if my proposed amount was high or low, so I appreciate the input.

We've got more relatives than we can count, so the graduations, weddings, baby showers, etc., can really hit our pockets, so our go-to amount is $50. If it's a favorite relative, we'll go for more, and we write a check. My great-nephew just added our graduation check to others he received to go toward a trip he'll be taking soon.

GardenArtist, I use to write out checks between $100-$200 depending on how close I was to that relative or friend's child.

Heck, when I was a child, I remember when my grandparents gave me $5 for birthdays and Christmases, and I would have my parents drive me to the bank ASAP so I could put it in my savings account. That was back when we had these small savings books which would be put into a machine and the date, amount deposited, and total would show up, sometimes crooked depending on how it was placed in the machine :))

That is very generous! I would think $100 is nice. I want to invite you to a party Garden :)

$100-150 but get a gift card. She will love it! Kids love their gift cards! A Visa GC. You can get them at any supermarket or big pharmacy.

I guess it depends on how close you are or how fond you are of the person receiving the gift.
