Do you have to give notice that you are moving a resident from one place to another?

Spatz, is Dad a U.S. citizen or a Canadian citizen? Why I ask is regarding Medicare and/or Medicaid. I know Medicaid stops at the State line. And Medicare might be limited if Dad moves to Canada unless Dad can quickly get on the universal health in Canada... hope hubby did some checking.

As for the rent, that last minute wait to tell the facility that Dad is moving is going to cost Dad an extra $5k or $10k if 60 days notice is required. That's a lot of money to throw away.

it isn't him...hubby is moving him back to Canada (he doesn't know it yet).............I told him that maybe he needs to give notice..........he doesn't want to let the home know until the last minute..............the rent is about $5000.00 us per month.............personally I think he's being foolish in not advising them early.....but that is another argument........after all he is the 'poa'...............

Spatz88, usually on a Lease one has to give 30 days or 60 day notice. If no written notice is given, then the renter is still responsible for the rent up until the last day of the Lease.

I see from your profile that your Dad lives in Assisted Living. Just curious why your Dad doesn't want to give notice of moving? Or was this an oversight?
