Should I take my husband to an out-of-town birthday party?

My husband and I are invited to a surprise birthday party for my brother. My husband who has dementia and Parkinson disease fell three days ago and broke his shoulder bone. He wants to attend the party, but, I am concern about him going because of his shoulder. Am I making too much of a big deal out of this or I should be concern? The party is being held this coming Saturday, 22 July at a hotel and we will be staying at the hotel. Any advice will be appreciated? Thanks.

My husband can walk go the bathroom, but, he need assistant in dressing. However, since he broke his bone in shoulders, he need some assistant in pulling his pants up and down. Yes, I would like to have a good time. We will be traveling with other couples, so I would not want to go alone.

I will check with his doctor tomorrow to get his advice, but, he appeals to be still in a lot of pain...he also, was not prescribed anything stronger than Tylenol and Advil for pain. After helping him just a minute ago, I am leaning toward staying at home and sending a gift by relatives.

He did very well the last time we went away, but, this shoulder issue is a different story.
Thanks, again to all who responded to my post.

Statewise, I noticed on another post months ago that you and hubby rode with some relatives for Thanksgiving out of town but it wasn't overnight. How did hubby do on that trip? Depending on how he did, use that as a guide.

Since your husband broke his shoulder only 3 days ago, what advice did the doctor give? I remember when I broke my upper arm, I had to stay in bed for 2 weeks. My gosh the pain was unbelievable. Had to use over-the-counter meds as anything stronger made me loopy, and I was using a lot of ice to help cut the pain. Being a passenger in a vehicle was no picnic :(

Now if travel is ok and your husband is doing ok with the pain, staying at the hotel where the party will be is great planning. Thus, if hubby gets very tired or is hurting big time, your room is right there.

Do you want to have a good time? Would you enjoy yourself more with or without hubby there?
