Is it ok to get mad at your 101 year old parent?

I try to be so cheerful and patient with her. but it's hard sometimes. Her mood is usually neutral to good, but the repetitive questions, especially about her bowels just wear me down. I never get mad. I just explain things in a matter-of-fact way, knowing she'll ask again in 5 minutes. I think I'm just tired today : /

Everyone is entitled to have tired days now and then. If caregiving required perfection there would be a national crisis of unprecedented magnitude.

Thanks Sunnygirl1
I know you are right and I only see her 3-4x a week. I have so much admiration for people who do this all day every day! I vented a little to my husband and daughter and that helped.

It can be trying to hear things repeated hundreds of times within short time period, but, I try to consider that they can't help it. Their brain prevents them from remembering. I used to see just how many times I could repeat the same thing in order to break my own record!

I'd be careful to get help so you can take breaks, vacation, etc. I honestly don't know how people are able to hold up long term without help. It has to be too stressful on your mind.
