Can I get paid as her caregiver?

I am 60 years old and unemployed and been taking care of my mom for the past 6 years. She is on a fixed income annuity from my dad (deceased 2007). She receives approximately $1400 a month. We live in California. Is it possible to be paid as her caregiver? She owns her own house and has taken a reverse mortgage on the house.
