Is cry good or bad for human being?

hope22 Jan 2015
I have to say that whenever I cry I tend to have a horrid headache the next day or even the same day later on, and of course I look horrible..but I just had one of those really big time crying jags this past Friday and it was a really bad one, but oddly enough, once I got it all out of my system, I felt 100% better...I had been holding the emotion in for so long I think I really needed that release of pent up sadness and desperation...it was like just emptying out all the bad stuff...I've been better ever since...

For some reason over the past several years even with being in therapy I end up crying while watching certain scenes in a movie theater. It was bad there for a while, but not so much lately.

I keep reading that it is good. For me, personally, it is almost always bad. Not always, but almost always. I wind up with a red nose, sore eyes, and a headache. And, of course, nothing changed or resolved.

I avoid it if I can.

(I'm not talking about sniveling in a sad movie, or sniffing at a wedding. I'm talking about a hard sobbing cry.)

How about for you, abcdefghi ? Is the experience of crying mostly good or bad for you?

Crying is very good for humans. It releases stress hormones. Even Jesus wept. If it's good enough for Him, it's good enough for us lol. He invented it.

I agree with cmagnum. If you are crying all the time you probably should talk to someone. A close friend, family member or even a doctor or therapist. But having a good cry now and then is a good way to relieve emotional pressure. Its a form of release.

Crying is good and can be for several reasons. The one time it might be bad is when you are so depressed that you cannot stop crying. Then, you need help from a doctor and a therapist to help with the depression and constant crying.

Why do you ask?
