How much can a recipient have in a checking account so it won't interefere with Medicaid?

In South Carolina. Only asset recipient has is a checking account. He has about $3000 in it. Will this interfere with mediciad nursing home expenses?

You may want to get the ball rolling now for the forms. I would suggest an elder law attorney as they know all the particulars. Be aware it may cost more than your elder has left.

In Illinois, you can have $2000 in assets. You will need to "spend down." You will be ok for a nursing home. You will have to spend the excess on the patient.
