Attorney for FIL's affairs and the Guardian appointed by court are husband and wife.

My father in law says he wants to move to florida to be near us. The attorney/guardian says no he doesn't and wants to stay there under them. His assests totaled about 1 million early this year. we have not been able to get an accounting of his assests to look after him as we live in florida and ohio says we have no rights as we live in florida?

When there's that much money at stake, you'd be crazy not to get a lawyer. Jinx is right. You need an Elder Attorney from Ohio, probably one from where your dad lives and preferably not one who is friends with your dad's attorney! Good Luck! My Dad's had his trust drawn up by attorney Paul Williams in Akron if you're in that area (hope he's not your dad's attorney).

I think you need to talk to an Elder Law lawyer from Ohio. Who told you you have no rights because you live out of state? That sounds fishy to me. You could report the lawyer to Adult Protective Services in Ohio for financial abuse of an elder.
