I'm burnt-out and I'm resenting the job, but I've got to work. What can I do?

My lady is 90, heart w stent, hard of hearing, is mobile, short term memory. She can do more for self bu just sit in chair all day while I do circles keepin house clean, cook 3 times a day. I do grocery shopping and any other aspect of her life. Has every excuse to not exercise and walk, drs orders.I work 5-6 wks at time. I find self not liking her. And I feel guilty for it. She is pleased with me bu I'm very unhappy. Need answer in meantime while waiting on finding new work.

hallwood, the problems you are seeing are ones most of us face. When someone needs to hire a caregiver, it is because they are unable or unwilling to do them for themselves anymore. So they hire someone to do these things for them. As a caregiver I have come to accept that I am living life for two people. It is exhausting and can be emotionally draining, so I know how you feel. I hope that you find other work that you prefer quickly. Taking care of a 90 year old woman can be quite a task.
