Question regarding nursing home private pay patients and trust accounts.

My SIL - in Illinois- was told that even though my MIL is private pay here in a Texas SNF, the facility should still be crediting MIL with a monthly stipend for her personal expenses -just like the Medicaid patients receive and this should come out of the money she pays. Does this sound correct?

I like this facility, but the business manager did trick us at first and claimed that my MIL had to use Pharmerica instead of their own private mail order prescription insurance through Medco. After getting some whopper bills, I did get that fixed and now the meds are all through Medco.
