Can guardianship of a parent be dropped?

EXPERT Carol Bradley Bursack, CDSGF Mar 2012
I would assume so, but you likely have to do it through a legal process. I don't know the process, but the social worker involved should know. It also may depend on where you live, as well as your reasons for dropping it. Good luck,

I believe you have to go back to court to do so because it has been recorded in a Probate court. Also, it becomes an issue fo the state because if you are not the Guardian then who will be?
