As a 58 year old widow with no children, I am planning my own care. I have no right to expect anyone to give up their life to care for me!

I am gradually sorting my belongings and getting my house ready for sale and downsizing, and I'll let you into a secret, I'm rather enjoying it, because I know I'm facing reality.

There's an interesting thread here about LTC insurance. https://www.agingcare.com/questions/seeking-input-on-ltc-insurance-494004.htm You're at the right age to purchase, if you get professional guidance that it may be a good option for you, especially if there's a family history of early health or cognitive problems. Having a LTC would necessitate having financial and medical PoAs who are willing/able to navigate working with an insurer.

Good for you! Taking control is the best way to plan for tomorrow, whatever it may hold.
