I feel abnormally panicky in the eventual passing of my Mom, who is 94 yrs.

At this point, I feel the problem is more me than mom, though she IS going downhill but very slowly. I think this may be my abandonment issues.

You should discuss this with your MD, who can prescribe medication and counseling. A difficult family relationship does not bring closure to hurtful past experiences when the parent dies. Often this takes time with a therapist to sort out the details and come to resolution.
