Find Care & Housing
NO! Do not give them yours.

It's just like when you go see a doctor, they all still ask for a SSN. Don't give it. They don't need it. They only want it since it makes collections easier if it comes to that. I suspect, that's the same reason this NH wants yours.

I was POA and never got asked for my SS#. As a POA you cannot personally be held responsible for payment. Make sure when u sign anything for Mom, u add POA after ur signature.

No, absolutely not.

This would only give them access to your personal financial information.

Betty28, I didn't give my dad's memory care facility my SS number -- can't actually remember if they asked for it, but even if they did, I wouldn't have given it to them, since there would have been no reason for them to have it. Many businesses ask for SS numbers, but I don't give them mine unless there's a legitimate reason for needing it.

No, there is no reason to have yours. You can refuse to give it. I no longer put mine on forms there is no reason to have it. Both Medicare and Health insurance companies no longer use SS#s for Identification.

You SS# has nothing to do with parents care. The only thing I could think of why they would even ask is if you are paying. But even then, I would not give it to them. Just a thought, are they doing a background check? I would want to know why.
