Is seeing patterns and people a sign of dementia?

A year ago I asked my brothers for help with mom. She has been living with me for the last 16 years. I believe she has dementia. We had a meeting which did not go well. My oldest brothers has not talked to me since (over a year ago). I told them she is forgetting things, leaving the gas on, the water running. Now she is accusing the little ones of taking things, checking her money and now seeing people. The other brother gets it because his mother-in-law is in the later stages of dementia. I am also in the process of adopting 2 graddaughters and am a widow of 14 years. What can I do? I am finally getting my mom to a doctor to test her. She is not aware of why she is going. If she knew she would not go.

Sounds like she may have dementia. When at the doc have her checked for a UTI. Adopting granddaughters? That could be very difficult for all of you! Is a facility an option for mom?
