There is a huge need everywhere for both LPN and RNs. Start with the want ads and go online to INDEED. Get your resume up on line and make sure your licence is current. Check out long term care facilities as well as urgent care/ walk in centers ect. Good luck. I’m also a retired nurse but with the current pandemic and a husband struggling with Alzheimer’s, I have no desire to go back to work. I worked In a hospital for 35 years and then also in infection control and long term care.
My daughter worked as an LPN in2005. At that time she was paid $27 per hour. I really don't see how you will find private care unless you are willing to take less pay. The only thing you can do that a CNA can't is give meds and maybe shots. My State, at one time, did not allow a LPN to give shots.
I would think a NH would be glad for someone to work 2 or 3x a day. Maybe a Hospital.
Two of my GFs worked as aides until they were 60. The work just got too hard. One still has back problems 12 yrs later.
There is a shortage, a severe shortage, of all types of health care workers. Retired professionals are being asked to come back to work. I am surprised you are having a problem finding work. Where have you tried?
Sounds like you're 70 years old which is probably why you're having a hard time finding a job. I had a very hard time finding work when I was 60, with tons of experience in the area I was looking for work in......its a young person's world out there, that's a fact. Not to mention this is a chat forum for caregivers to elderly loved ones, not a job site.
If your license is up to date and you are current on CEU's (if they are required in your area) you should be able to find a job easily. Most facilities are short staffed. The Hospice I volunteer at hires part time as well as full time nurses for both In Patient Units as well as on a team where you my go into someone's home or care for patients in facilities.
Not to mention the members are from all over the US as well as around the world and Sandy's profile doesn't give a clue as to her location, so it's kind of like tossing a line into the ocean without a hook.
