My LO had a Saint Louis University Mental Status Examination (SLUMS) test and scored 23 which is mild cognitive impairment which they said is is mild dementia. Does anyone know how fast this would turn to full dementia?
MCI doesn't always progress to dementia although it may be an early warning sign - clear as mud, right? Are there any plans to do more intensive cognitive testing or to do any brain imaging (usually an MRI)? Knowing what kind of dementia they suspect can give you a the information you need to do some more focused research.
