Where to start, I am not sure when the role’s reversed? I am caring for my 79 year old mother, as I am raising a 19, 16, 11 and 8 year old.

How do you obtain an advocate on their behalf?

An advocate to do what?

"Advocate"...

Like a Power of Attorney? Legal guardian?

And, who is they? Your Mom, your kids? All of them?

More details would be helpful.

You don’t give a lot of detail about what kind of care you are providing or what kind of help your mother needs, or whether you live in the same house. Does she have dementia and/or major health issues? Do you have durable power of attorney and/or health care proxy for her?

There is no way I could do any kind of daily care for an ailing elder while raising four kids. It’s mind-boggling. Don’t attempt to take on more than you can do! She may have thrown up her own hands but there are resources you can point her to other than yourself if she is capable of making phone calls. If she is not, there are still things you can do other than take her on yourself.

I’m not sure what you mean about “obtaining an advocate on their behalf.” What does she need help with?
