I read that you have DPOA but that only covers financial. My Moms Medical I needed a doctor to claim she was not able to make informed decisions. I was lucky I guess, my Medical was never questioned. Doctors and staff always talked to me. Guess because I was already DPOA, and the only person there for Mom. There was no doubt she had Dementia.
A durable PoA is usually only financial, so you may need to still work on this. FYI in legal terms, the bar for "capacity" is pretty low, so even if your LO seems to have some impairment, the attorney can assess whether they can still assign a MPoA. It's decided by the attorney, not a doctor.
Start by taking our the PoA document and read whether it is a durable or springing authority. Durable means it became active the minute the principal finalized it, and springing means there's usually a condition to activate it (usually 1 official medical diagnosis of sufficient impairment by a doctor, like a primary, neurologist, psychologist, psychiatrist, internist).
Hi. I suggest that you search for this information on the internet. I just did a quick search, and the answer to your question seems to be readily available.
