Is there an agency that helps with couples who need help with their checking account and other financial matters?

Check with your banks. Most can set up automatic payments for your usual bills. Most can also alert you when there is suspicious activity with your accounts. There is probably a lot more assistance your bank officer can offer.

You do not state what region you live, so your question is too general for us to answer. Contact your local Area Agency on Aging.

I agree with AADMM also. They are very ethical. They may look like they cost a lot, but once you are set up, it usually takes about 15 min of time each month

A Daily Money Manager can help. A Daily Money Manager (DMM) is a professional who can provide the support you need to stay on top of everyday financial tasks without giving up control of your money. They can ensure your bills get paid on time, help you track your spending and ensure that your checking account is balanced accurately, keep your financial documents organized, review your bank or credit card statements for errors, assist you in creating a simple budget that works for you, handle communication with your bank, and negotiate payment terms with creditors.

To find a reputable DMM in your area, visit the American Association of Daily Money Managers (AADMM) website at:
https://secure.aadmm.com

Many Daily Money Managers are certified and follow strict ethical guidelines to ensure they’re providing the best care for your financial needs.

When I started helping my aunt with her banking, it was so easy. That because she had a great relationship with the folks who worked at her bank. They balanced her check book for her and helped her set up her bills on auto pay.
I realize you wouldn’t find this at every bank but it worked for her for several years. They even called me when she asked a relative to take her to the bank to make a large withdrawal.

There are Licensed Fiduciaries who do this work.
If you call the offices of an elder law attorney they should have the names of those in your area. They often work with them in the courts where they are appointed by the court in the case of those requiring guardianship or conservatorship but who have no families.

Contact your local Area Agency on Aging and they can give you resources for this, or a local Senior Center may be able to recommend an organization.
