VictorianDoll Asked January 2023

Why is there a need for Mom to walk around the house pulling the blinds? It’s no stop all day long.

Catskie62 Jan 2023
Does she stand there pulling them or randomly doing it throughout the day?

Does you mom suffer from some type of dementia or OCD It doesn't sound normal to be pulling the blinds non stop all day long. However, what she does is harmless. Perhaps she's bored with nothing else to do?

VictorianDoll, is it possible that your Mom finds the outdoor light to be too bright for her eyes?

My parents house was like a cave, and when I visited I would go and open up some shades to get some daylight into the room. It wasn't until I got older and was experiencing age related eye issues that I finally understood my folks cave like existence.

My mother did that, and still would, if she lived at home.

In moderate dementia, she was, and still is, convinced that people were looking in at her. Nothing we said would convince her otherwise.

That’s the nature of dementia.

Is this a new behavior, or has it been occurring for some time?
