Does anyone have a parent that has used Seroquel for major depression?

My mom has failed on anti-depressants. Xanax seems to help her as a bridge when she has those moments. Knowing the class of medication that Seroquil is and the litany of side effects, I'm curious what you all have experienced in a loved one using this for depression. It's about balancing risks and benefits. Thanks in advance!

My mom had hallucinations of falling, little children in room ,seeing trees and ivy. They escalated and she was very fearful of water eventually animals and strangers. We started on a small dose , I was afraid of causing health issues and eventually after 2 weeks, meds kicked in like a miracle and she became calmer with much less menacing hallucinations, she saw babies and children, but not the fear of falling. She has been on for about 3 years and because of its short half life ,I give her a small dose but 3 times a day.

My mom is on it for major anxiety. She’s been on it for about a year. She is in Memory Care.

This medication is the only one that has given her any freedom from crippling fears. These were that her room would spontaneously combust, and that someone is looking in at her through her windows, among others.

Not a parent but a good friend. Her antidepressants stopped working when she was in her early 60s. She was hospitalized (her husband and adult daughter forced her into a cab and got her to the Pysch inpatient unit at NYU).

The did some ECT and combined with Seroquel, she's been fine ever since.
