What are the next steps when your love one stops eating and drinking?

Mysteryshopper Jun 2022
Why aren't they eating/drinking? Has the person seen a doctor? Does this person live with you and are you sure they are not eating/drinking? Was this a sudden change or are there other things going on? There is someone in my life right now who has essentially stopped eating and drinking. However, we know the reason for the behavior as she is under hospice care with multiple problems which qualified her for that type of care.

What is your question? If advanced ALZ/dementia is at play and responsible for your loved one not eating & drinking, it's time to call in hospice. Ask your loved one's PCP for an order to be written for a hospice evaluation, and then choose a hospice company to come out and do an evaluation. Your LO needs to be kept comfortable during his/her end of life transition.
