Who pays caregivers for in home health care, Medicare or Medicaid?

Didn't you get enough answers the last time you asked this? This post is a repeat.

Medicare is a health insurance but a poster said she was able to get help under intermittent care. I doubt if Medicare pays family members.

Medicaid has "in home" care. Some States will pay family to do the care. Mom would would need to fit a certain criteria income wise. But the amt of hours you get may not be enough.

I also read your profile. Before you make any decisions to bring Mom home, you need to speak to someone at the home. Your profile says Mom is an amputee with a Dementia. She is probably a 2 person assist. Her dementia should be considered. Change is not good for them. And Dementia only gets worse. Mom has been there 4yrs and its now her home.

Do you have POA? If NH feels it would be an "unsafe discharge" they will not release your Mom. APS was involved for a reason.

Here is a link to a government pdf revised in 2020 that may answer more of your questions:

Are you wondering if you can find govt subsidized full-time in-home care for your mom? Your profile states your mom is a double amputee in a NH. Are you thinking of removing her to your home?
