Carolann2244's question about a fire emergency made me think of DH's stair lift. Anyone had experience with a stair lift in an emergency?

Has anyone had experience with a stair lift in an emergency? It has backup battery but wondering if a caregiver has been able to get their LO downstairs in a true emergency like a fire. Was the stair lift a hindrance? I know ours takes 45 seconds to get down, a long time in an emergency.

We're all supposed to have a plan and practice periodically so you know exactly what to do (but most of us don't), I think 45 seconds is actually pretty good but of course that's only part of the evacuation route. The best defence is to have working smoke alarms on every level of the house, early warning is what will increase chances of survival.

Good question. Actually, a Fire emergency is a good reason to try to get LOs to downsize to a more accessible home or apt.

Hope someone has some answers.
