Mom lives in a senior apartment and has been hospitalized off and on for the three weeks I have been there. The manager keeps having notes for me to sign. Other tenants are saying not very nice things to me. We’re trying to help our mother in another state. It is very difficult and very hard because covid and living in a small community not everything is at your finger tips. What to do? Are they trying to kick us out?

The big thing here is ..how old are you? If you are residing there while mom is in the hospital or you are staying with her when she comes home that may be in violation of the lease and they might be able to ask her to leave as she is the one that is violating the lease.
So while mom is in the hospital you might be better off staying in a hotel or renting an apartment nearby.
I would suggest that you make plans for what is next.
Is mom going to stay in her apartment or is she going to move?
And I would not sign anything but be aware that if you are staying there it may be a reason for management to ask mom to leave. And Senior housing is difficult to come by, there are waiting lists so there is incentive to get one out and another in.

- what are the "notes" the manager keeps having you sign?
- who has the Power of Attorney for your mother?
- are you staying in her apartment during the past 3 weeks of her hospitalization?
Please read very carefully whatever it is you are signing. If you are not your mom's PoA, consider deferring signing anything to the PoA when the manager approaches you. Ignore the tenants who are giving you the stink-eye...just wear your mask and stay 6' away from them. You don't owe anyone an explanation in your emergency situation.
