Caring with my mother in law with Alzheimers/Dementia. She needs 24 hr care and has no finances. Suggestions?

My mother in law lives with me & my family. She's a Resident but doesn't qualify for Medicaid yet. Currently doesn't have health insurance and relies completely on us financially. I'm working from home for now and I'm caring for her but she really needs 24hr care. She's left the house twice just this week to wander down the street looking for my husband (her son). We have limited resources and hoping to find emergency placement or any other help for nursing home or assisted living. This has been extremely difficult to deal with as I also care for my kids and aging parents. It's a circus.

Without being a Resident for 5 years she does not qualify for anything here. We have another member with this problem, Wren.
Medicaid would be what you needed to find her a placement in a nursing home. Assisted livings are private pay. Her care, for now, will need to come out of your pocket. She is not entitled to Social Security or Medicare because she didn't work here.

So sorry you are going thru this.

She arrived from another country and doesn't collect SS or Medicare.

Please clarify a little more. Doesn't she collect Social Security? Doesn't she have Medicare? If not, why not? Did she just arrive from another country?
