Does anyone know where I can get an inexpensive hospital bed for my grandmother?

We live in South Miami, FL area.

Call your local Fire house. Soom organizations, like Lions Club and Rotary, have loan closets. If you have access to Facebook. someone on online yardsales may be getting rid of one. Craigs list.

Thank you! I will keep on searching for an inexpensive bed. Yes disinfecting will be of the most importance..

My grandmother has been living out of the country and just got in to Miami in a repatriation flight. She has not insurances or medicare at this time. She solely depends on me and my mother for now.

Call your county Area Agency on Aging. Normally I would suggest Goodwill, but they may not be open.

Barb's right. Ask one of her treating doctors, who can refer your request to a DME, which will then contact you for delivery. That's assuming you have Medicare. If you have a Medicare Medigap policy as well, the cost would likely be free (it was back in the early 2000s, although there's a possibility that has changed.)

There also was a policy that after a certain number of months, the patient had the opportunity to "have bought" the bed, and it became the patient's possession, free of charge.

I would try that route before trying to find one to buy; you'd have to find a way to clean and disinfect it if you bought a used one.

If doctor prescribes a hospital bed, Medicare will probably rent it for you.
