I have called some organizations and churches with no luck. This stair lift was used for two months only. Looking forward for recommendations.

Great suggestions from Garden Artist! I donate to Paralyzed Vets of America all the time because they pick up items. Their only stipulation is that you place items outside early in the morning with a label on items designated for them.

This a stairlift that's connected to installed wall and electrical support and raises up from one floor to the next?   If so, has it been uninstalled, or does that need to be done?  I ask b/c someone who might want it may not have the resources to remove it from its wall mounts.

As to potential recipients, these are some that I can think of now.

1.  Paralyzed Vets of America, VFW, or the VA itself.   The latter would have the resources for removal, transit and installation for a qualified Vet.  I don't know w/o checking though how extensive its services are although from what I've read it has been expanding services to adapt to the more extensive needs of injured returning military.

You might contact a local VA hospital and ask for one of the Social Workers, or better yet, contact a small VA county location.  I've had success getting help from them.

NY itself may also have a Veterans service agency; Michigan does.   I spoke with a very, very knowledgeable Veteran and got a lot of help through that route.

2.  Local Senior Centers might have some suggestions.  Same with the United Way helpline - 411.

3.   I don't think institutions or facilities would be as interested b/c of liability issues, especially whether any warranties would be transferable.

4.   Tradesmen/companies that install assistive devices might be interested, and they would likely have either the knowledge or equipment to dismantle the railing for installation elsewhere.

I searched "Assistive device tradesmen, NY" and got some potential hits.

That's all I can think of offhand, but I'll post back if I think of anything else.
