Does government pay for memory care facilities for dementia patients?

Does government/Medi-Cal/Medi-Cade/Medicare pays for memory care facilities for dementia patients? How should I apply since mom doesn't have any savings or assets and is eligible for Medi-Cal (Medi-Cade for California)?

Since she doesn't speak English, if I find privite homes to care for her with her language preference, would the government pays for that?

Thank you in advance🙏

One Blue Moon, Most nursing homes do not have abuse. Much of the understaffing occurs because of the large number of Medicaid clients they have to accept. Reimbursements from Medicaid do not cover the actual cost of the care.

Yes medi-cal does pay for memory care. But not a private home.

Hi OBM - Medicaid/Medi-Cal covers nursing home expenses for those with low income. I'm guessing it would pay for private (nursing) homes too if those places accept Medicaid payments, not all places do. To be sure, you should contact your local Medi-Cal office and ask. Here's the link to their website.

Thank you.
I'm thinking if it got really bad I might either get a home care or leave her in a private home that speak her language. That puts me at ease than the most crazy nursing homes that are understaffed and abuse! Could the language barrier be a reason they would cover in those settings?
