Moving questions; can they make her pay rent once she is transferred from rehab to assisted living?

My friend has to move from an independent living facility (that she recently moved into) to assisted living. The independent facility says she needs to continue paying rent for 2 more months, even though she has a doctor's letter regarding the necessity to move. Is their request legal? Can they make her pay once she is transferred from rehab to assisted living?

An independent Living is like having an apartment. If there is a years lease, then the complex is entitled to what is left of it.

Its probably written in her contract with the independent living facility. A doctors note isn’t a legal document, the IL can make an exception because of the doctors note but legally, they don’t have to.

A little much for a lease, generally one month, but whatever the lease says, where I live it is legal.  I assume they are not part of the same complex or under the same ownership
