Caw, if your father has "some" dementia he will sure get "more" sooner than you think. It wouldn't be a wise expenditure of time or energy (or probs money) to move him where he can't get help like he can in a care community/NH. An apartment or condo won't be helpful and more work for whoever will is responsible for his well being. Does someone have PoA for him? Does he have his legal paperwork in order (Medical Directive, Living Will, Medical Information Release authorizations?) It's very important to have these while he can still sign those docs and so someone can make good and timely decisions when he no longer can. Blessings!
The one reason is that the brother / son doesn't want us (my dad and I) to live where we are at now. (Currently, my father and I live in a home.) My father just turned 94 in November, he does have some dementia and my father is able to live where he is at now. The new location would be in an apartment / condo and it would possible be located at in Wixom / Walled Lake, Michigan area and that I would live with my father. No, my father does not want to move.

How old is the parent? Is there any dementia involved? Is he/she able to live where he/she is now?
Where would the new location be? A home, AL, IL, with you?
Does the parent want to move?
