How do I find out about care giving at home?

I'm currently living with my mother to care for her, but want to find work outside of home, and don't feel comfortable leaving her all day. Where can we look for low-income seniors who only live off their Social Security and whose insurance or Medicare doesn't cover this. I can't afford it.

If she is on medi-cal, see if she qualifies for in home support services. And she will get more than 12 hours a week. With IHSS, you will have to find and hire the caregiver though. Contact the San Joaquin County Department of Social Services, that’s where you will apply for IHSS.

Is She eligible for Medicaid? There might be a few hours a week they might pay for. Doubt it will be much more than 12 hours per week....but, it may be the only option you will get

See if mom may be eligible for Medicaid benefits for home care. Is she or dad a veteran? There may be benefits there as well
Contact the Area Agency on Aging to see whAt programs may be available in your area that mom is eligible for.

How do I find out if she's eligible for Medicaid? She's on Medicare and has a supplementary insurance that she pays for. The insurance won't pay for anything. But her income has diminished. She no longer has any retirement money left. She only has Social Security. Would that mean she is eligible for Medical?
