TNtechie Asked June 2019

Where are the admins? How does this site remove or suspend users that post sarcastic attack messages and consistently harass other posters?

There's at least one such user on the forum now with multiple threads and posters documenting this behavior, even some posters leaving or considering leaving the forum due to this behavior. Cyber stalking should not be allowed. No one should be harassed because he/she posted an opinion someone doesn't like.

Report the posts.

Also, go to the About AgingCare.Com section, scroll down to find the section to send an email to admins.

(Sample) "Poster "XYZ" is slowly but surely destroying the supportive nature of this forum. Please take action."

Send attacked posters a message, encouraging them to report harrassment.

Ignore, but report, any sarcastic comments the poster makes. These folks thrive on attention. Don't give it to them.

Finally, feel empathy for someone who needs to do this to meet their unmet needs.

Thank you! Done.

TNtech- I'll send an email to admin on Monday. Not sure if anyone working on weekends. The poster I have in mind is a foul mouth nasty troll which had sent a direct message to me calling me some disgusting names. The message was later removed by admin. The troll likes to go to different threads and post just to piss off people. I ignore and report when appropriate, but admin doesn't seem to do anything about the troll.

I thought that was what the "Report" feature was for (after each post)??  This forum is for comforting, encouraging and helping caregivers and their loved ones.  How sad that someone would harass people.  Must have some anger issues.
TNtechie Jun 2019
That works for a specific post but you cannot add any comments to indicate there is a pattern of behavior. My concern is reports on different comments by the same user may be worked by differing admins and the pattern may not be noticed.

Hanlon's razor is an aphorism expressed in various ways, including:
"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."[1]
An eponymous law, probably named after a Robert J. Hanlon, it is a philosophical razor which suggests a way of eliminating unlikely explanations for human behavior.

The above may apply here. The poster in question perceives a "clique" and feels excluded. In actuality, we are simply a bunch of tired current and former caregivers who are generally supportive and polite.

Reward polite behavior with approbation and ignore (and report) poor behavior. This includes copying and pasting abusive private messages and emailing them to the administrators.

This is our forum. Protect its integrity.

I have seen it too. Like Barb said, when you see it, ignore it, do not feed the trolls this is what they want you to do. Report the post, an option on every entry.

Do not feed it, only makes things worse for everyone.

And ignore your own knee jerk reaction.

Thank you for the thread. It's such a pity.

I too have been experiencing this. Hope they do something about it. i would hate for any of the regulars to leave.

I thought repeat offenders have been booted off. Not like they can't come back under a different name though.

I think we should be able to report an original post either for

1. An inappropriate post

2. An advertisement

3. The oringinal poster has not responed or left

4. The OP has told us their decision and now whats to shut down the posts.

I think after a certain amount of replys, the post should be shut down.

OK. I just sent Admin an email about the problem poster. I encourage other posters to do the same, that way Admin can see that it's not just me having a problem with this nasty poster.
